2 prevent SAPS from doing job

LEPHALALE — Lazarus Matlou (23) and Elvis Ledwaba (35) were arrested in Mamojela Park on Sunday 11 June around 16:00 for malicious damage to property and defeating the ends of justice.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, Matlou and Ledwaba also assaulted a police officer after April Mabote was detained by community members for contravention of a protection order. Mokoena says while the police were talking to community members, Matlou and Ledwaba prevented the police from doing their job and they tried to get Mabote away from the police and community. Mabote ran away.
At the time of going to print, Mabote was still on the run. Matlou and Ledwaba were in the holding cells at Lephalale SAPS and they ap-peared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 13 June.
