20 escapees in 1 week

LEPHALALE — Col. Ronel Otto, Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, confirmed on Monday 21 March that 13 suspects escaped from lawful custody in Modimolle SAPS holding cells early last week and two of the escapees were re-arrested on Thursday 17 March.
The two who were re-arrested are Philip Phasha, who was arrested in Vaalwater and Tsephoi Lehong who was arrested in Pienaarsrivier. They appeared in the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 22 March on a charge of escape from lawful custody. Col. Otto says the search for the rest of the escapees is continuing.
On Tuesday 22 March Col. Otto reported that seven suspects escaped from the Tzaneen police holding cells in the early morning hours after overpowering members who visited the cells. The escapees are Victor Makgopa, Mahlatsi Sellotape, Tshepo Charles Sebake, Goodwill Maranza Skhwela, Piet Solly Sekgobela, Houston Mabasa and Lucky Mashatola. According to Col Otto they were arrested for armed robbery, house breaking and business robbery and their ages range from 22 to 36 years old.
