LEPHALALE — The three suspects who were arrested by members of the provincial Stock Theft Unit, Rhino Task Team and members of Sanparks, in May 2016 after information was received that they attempted to sell lion heads and paws (CAS 204/5/2016), were transferred to Lephalale Police earlier this week. They already appeared in Giyani Magistrates’ Court in June this year on charges of unlawful hunting and suspected selling of animal body parts.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Police spokesperson, their involvement in the poisoning and removal of lions’ paws, heads and tails on a farm outside Lephalale near Stockpoort was investigated and it seems that they can be linked to the case. Jeremais Machane (35), Ngobeni Inuse (41) and Hendrik Mangayne (37) will appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court during the week.
