On Monday 24 April a 38 year old man appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on three charges of the rape of minors.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, the accused is the biological father of one girl (11) and the stepfather of the other girl (also 11). The third girl is the daughter of the suspect’s Zimbabwean girlfriend’s sister (10 years old).
Mokoena says according to the two 11 year old girls, the raping allegedly started in November 2016. They say he allegedly also payed them or threatened them to keep quiet. They say he allegedly raped them in one room every time their mother left them with him.
When the 10 year old girl came to visit the weekend before Easter, he allegedly forced himself on her. She told her mother and it encouraged the other two girls to break their silence. Penetration was proven after one of the girls went to see a doctor due to continued infections in her private parts.
The accused was arrested and he appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Monday 24 April for bail application. It was postponed to 3 May 2017.
