4 suspects at large

Silence Dube, Philani Sithole, Thabang Dube and Joshua Mogashoa

BELA-BELA — Five trial awaiting suspects escaped from the Bela-Bela SAPS holding cells on Sunday night 10 September at around 22:00.
According to the Police, five prisoners managed to escape but one of them, Clifford Cleo Mutonhori (29), was rearrested just outside the police station. The other four fled.
They are Silence Dube (29) from 2205 Block R Soshanguve, Philani Sithole (30) from 116003 Kgwadi Stand Winterveldt, Mabopane, Thabang Dube (30) also from Winterveldt, Mabopane and Joshua Mogashoa (no more information on Joshua was available at the time of going to print).
All five of them were arrested for an armed robbery that was committed along the N1 freeway between Pienaarsrivier and Bela-Bela.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale Cluster, these suspects also escaped from Witpoort SAPS’ holding cells on a previous occasion. He says they have more than 100 cases against them.
According to the Police the circumstances of the escape are still being investigated.
