5 die in car crash

DORSET — The police in Dorset are investigating the deaths of five people during a motor vehicle collision on the R33 about 30 km outside Vaalwater on Saturday 16 June around 16:00.

According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster Spokesperson, Johanna Greef (49), Hannes Greef (48), Amogelang Makgae (3), Jouna Greef (16) and Mmone Rafapha (41) were on their way from Lephalale to Vaalwater when the driver lost control and overturned the white Ford Figo that they were travelling in.

WO Mokoena said all information indicates that Rafapha was the driver of the car and that the family had rented the vehicle to go to Vaalwater. The reason why they wanted to go to Vaalwater is unknown.

As the family were residents from Steilloop, a mass funeral is being planned.

At the time of going to print, the cause of the accident was not yet clear and anyone with information can contact Captain Malesela at 082 414 2012 at Dorset Police.

Investigations continue.
