ABBOTSPOORT — A 24-year-old resident from Abbotspoort was found guilty on a charge of child negligence and sentenced to six years imprisonment at the Lephalale Regional Court on 10 May 2018.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster Spokesperson, the crime was committed on 24 February 2018. She left her five year old child with her elderly mother and although she was reported to Social Development several times, she failed to comply.
The letter was referred to the police and a case docket for child negligence was opened and investigated.
She was arrested by the Investigating Officer of the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, Constable Frans Thulare.
