Access road opened, more energy

SHONGOANE — Limpopo MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Onicca Moloi, officially opened the 2.5 km access road that goes into Ga-Monyeki village in Shongoane 3 in December 2016.
The construction of the road took eight months to complete, with Komicotrade being the contractor.
Moloi then proceeded to switch lights on for 400 households in Steve Biko phase 3. Lephalale Municipality’s electricity technician, Bongi Ditsela, said even though there was a backlog of 20 houses from phase 2, they have managed to cover all the houses. She added that they had challenges in locating the owners of the houses that needed to be electrified but she said they will do all they can to locate everyone to make sure they have electricity.
Ditsela explained that they have developed a new method which will prevent the community from bridging or linking electricity. The connecting box will no longer be on the wall but will only be plugged in when they want to recharge the electricity.
