LEPHALALE – “Things are going well with the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and crime has drastically reduced since the CPF started supporting the Lephalale police in their fight against crime. It works well”. So says Thys Eloff, chairman of the CPF in Lephalale.
He further added that he is grateful the CPF is eventually getting the recognition that it deserves – it gives the community a “vehicle” with which to help fight crime together with the Lephalale SAPS in their various departments. According to Eloff the entire community of Ellisras benefits from it and Lephalale CPF is an example for other towns.
“The crime if relatively under control but it can change again. We all need to realise that the small donations made to the Article 21 company are a drop in the ocean for everybody’s peace of mind. It must actually be handled according to the rules” he says.
“Why for example do you take out medical aid?” he asked. “To give yourself peace of mind that you are taken care of should anything unforeseen happen. The CPF does the same for the community. It gives you peace of mind to know that there is someone on the other end of the radio 24 hours a day if you have a problem.”
