MARAPONG — Two 29-year-old suspects, Ramadubu John Majadibodu and Lucky Matlhatsi Monene, appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 25 November on charges of murder, attempted murder, and assault GBH. They were granted bail of R5 000 each and the cases were postponed to 18 December 2020 for formal bail application. The crimes were committed on 5 November 2020 at a tavern in Marapong.
Majadibodu and Monene allegedly stabbed and killed a 21-year-old Grade 12 learner from Tielelo Secondary School during an altercation outside a local tavern.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Police spokesperson, Errol Tabiso Seane was allegedly walking with his cousin when he was confronted by Majadibodu and Monene. They accused him of stealing a cell phone. They started to argue, and one of the suspects hit the cousin with a hard object. The cousin ran away and left Seane behind.
According to WO Mokoena, they then stabbed Seane with a sharp object. Seane tried to run home (his home is close to the tavern) for his safety. However, he succumbed to his injuries on arrival.
Seane’s father went outside to see what was going on and, according to WO Mokoena, the two suspects hit him with a vehicle before they fled the scene. They were pursued and arrested shortly afterwards.
The investigation continues while Majadibodu and Monene are out on bail.
