LEPHALALE — The “Jerusalema” team of Mediclinic Lephalale obtained a well-deserved first place in the Tshwane district for their performance of the #JerusalemaChallenge.
Nadine Venter and Benita Aucamp from Mediclinic Lephalale initiated participation in the challenge on behalf of the hospital.
All entry videos had to be sent to the region’s HR manager. Mediclinic Lephalale was announced as the deserving winners.
Pretoria Mediclinic Kloof came in second place while Mediclinic Muelmed was in third place. There are 13 Mediclinic hospitals in the Tshwane district alone.
The Jerusalema dance challenge has taken the world by storm. Nurses and doctors across the world could do with a moment of playful joy amid all their hard work fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, and this catchy song has allowed them to do just this.
“Jerusalema” is an uplifting dance-gospel song, by South African DJ and record producer Master KG featuring South African vocalist Nomcebo. The upbeat gospel-influenced house song was initially released on 29 November 2019 after it garnered positive response online, with a music video following on 21 December. It was later included on Master KG’s second album of the same title, released in January 2020. It was eventually released on streaming services on 10 July 2020, after it went viral during mid-2020, garnering international reaction due to the #JerusalemaChallenge.
