LEPHALALE — An arson case was opened at Lephalale SAPS after two offices in the Licenses Department at the Lephalale Municipality was allegedly set on fire on Tuesday 4 February around 21:45.
According to the Municipal Spokesperson, Conscious Chiloane, the fire resulted in a part of the Civic Centre gutted.
The rates hall, including the registering authority (License Department) was cordoned off by Police and handled as a crime scene.
“Services at the rates hall and license offices have been suspended until further notice,” she said.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and we will keep the community posted on developments around the issue,” she concluded.
At the time of going to print, Police confirmed that arson was suspected but investigations were still ongoing and no further information could be disclosed.
