Back to basics for criminals

TOM BURKE — A number of successful arrests were made in the Tom Burke Policing area during the Back to Basics Operation on Thursday 10 August.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale SAPS, the operation was conducted by SAPS Lephalale, Witpoort, Villa Nora, members of the Community Policing Forum and traffic officers.
Among the successful arrests were one person who was arrested for being involved in a dagga plantation, three people were arrested for violating the road traffic act, 82 vehicles were searched, 180 people and 82 luggage bags were searched. Mokoena says the successful arrests were made during a stop and search action as well as visible policing.
