Body of 2 year old found

SELEKA — The body of the two year old girl, Ntlaleng Kgola, from Emelman Village, was found by an investigating team from Witpoort SAPS on Monday afternoon 4 December after an intensive search operation. Ntlaleng went missing on Saturday 2 December.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale SAPS, her body was found quite a distance away from where her parents sat down to rest. “She walked 6 -7 km on her own and she must have been dehydrated and exhausted. Saturday was a very hot day,” Mokoena said to Mogol Post.
According to WO Mokoena, it is suspected that the mother and father of Ntlaleng were both intoxicated when they were walking home from town with Ntaleng and her four year old sister and along the way they decided to rest under a tree and subsequently fell asleep. They woke up around 19:00 only to find Ntlaleng was missing. They reported the matter to the police and they started a search operation. Members of Witpoort SAPS, the Provincial Search and Rescue Unit, the Air Wing and Lephalale Cluster K9 Unit were part of the search operation.
The South African Police Service is highly concerned about the continuous trend of poor child care by some parents or guardians in a number of areas of this Province.
According to Police, there is no foul play suspected at this stage and an inquest case was opened.
Investigations continue.
