A nine year old boy, Katlego Lesenya has found to be missing on Saturday 21 May and his body was retrieved from a shallow river on Monday 30 May.
According to Col. Ronel Otto, Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, it is alleged that his 38-year-old mother, a sergeant attached to the Mokopane Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit and her boyfriend had an argument and the relationship had ended. Previous information alleged that Katlego was last seen in the company of the boyfriend on the day he went missing. The suspect was arrested on a charge of kidnapping at Lephalale over the weekend.
According to Col. Otto, the suspect pointed out the area where he allegedly dumped the body of the boy on Monday 30 May. He threw the body from a bridge into a shallow river on the Marken Road between Mahwelereng and Lephalale in the Bakenberg area.
Members of K9 and the search and rescue team assisted with the retrieval of the body. Col. Otto said a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death and a murder case is opened. The investigation continues.
