SHONGOANE — A case of business robbery was opened at Villa Nora SAPS on Wednesday 17 April after a supermarket in Shongoane 1 in the Steve Biko section was allegedly robbed.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster spokesperson, the 27-year-old Ethiopian citizen, Girima Galitro Difafu, the complainant, alleges that he was sleeping in his bedroom when he heard people on top of the roof. He got up to check what was going on and he saw three men inside the shop. One of them pointed a firearm at him and demanded money. The other two men assaulted him after which they searched the bedroom.
They took R1 000 cash and airtime vouchers of an unknown amount. They also stole two cell phones to the value of R2 300 and cigarettes (amount unknown).
According to WO Mokoena, the suspects gained entry through the roof by cutting the corrugated iron.
Difafu wasn’t injured and no shot was fired. The suspects are still at large.
The investigation continues.
