Car catastrophes

VILLA NORA — On Saturday 27 May at around 19:40 one person died on the Marken Road (R518) and seven people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned.
According to police it is alleged that Kekae Thabang was driving a white Polo with unknown registration number when he failed to control the vehicle on a curve in the Marken Road to Steilloop, near the intersection to Ga Mushi.
The vehicle overturned and one of the passengers, Moris Thobane (22), was declared dead on the scene.
Seven passengers, including Thabang, were taken to George Masebe Hospital for medical treatment. All the people involved in this incident are residing in Abbotspoort.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at Villa Nora SAPS.
In another incident on Saturday the driver of a white Toyota Corolla hit an electricity pole after he allegedly tried to prevent a head-on collision with a car who tried to overtake. He moved on to the gravel verge but lost control and hit the pole.
The driver only sustained minor injuries and according to the paramedics, he refused transportation to hospital.
