LEPHALALE – The public are advised not to visit automatic teller machines (ATM’s) especially at month end. According to Thys Eloff, chairman of the CPF in Lephalale, there is currently a syndicate from Mokopane and Polokwane that specialises in card cloning. The syndicate is not permanently in Lephalale but visits the town over month end and preys on innocent victims.
“Avoid places that are crowded or where people stand in queues as they target such places” says Eloff.
The syndicate apparently consists of four or five heavily armed men who will not hesitate to shoot.
Eloff added that people should not carry cash with them and never allow anyone to assist them with a transaction.
“Last week there was a farm murder in Levubu and a cash in transit heist near Letsitele where all the assailants were armed with heavy military weapons” warned Eloff and added that the public must always be alert.
