LEPHALALE — The Provincial Crime Prevention, Lephalale K9, Modimolle K9 and Mahwelereng K9 conducted a crime prevention operation in Lephalale, OR Tambo Road, on Friday 10 February from 10:00 until 16:00 under the leadership of Col Potgieter from Polokwane SAPS.
Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson says the operation started with a stop and search and all incoming cars from both sides of town were targeted. Mokoena says a whole new angle was the motorbikes and horses that were used in this operation. The horses enabled the police to go into the bushes and unoccupied areas where criminals hide during the daytime.
Mokoena emphasizes that this operation was only a crime prevention operation and no arrests were made.
On Saturday night 11 February, another special operation, Operation Sekelbos, was conducted by Lephalale Cluster and many successful arrests were made.
29 people were arrested for drinking in public, four were arrested for possession of dagga, one person was arrested for violating the road traffic act and three illegal immigrants were arrested.
