LEPHALALE — Theft, burglary and card cloning are still issues in Lephalale and surroundings, said Thys Eloff, chairperson of the Lephalale Community Policing Forum (CPF) on Thursday 17 November.
Eloff furthermore reported that general lawlessness like drunken driving, ignorance in terms of road signs, etc. in town is still a huge issue.
He asked the community on behalf of the CPF to not get involved in irregular behaviour and said that reckless and harmful statements can undermine cohesion in society. “We cannot tolerate it that there are people who try to undermine what the CPF does, we ask residents and communities to refrain from being irresponsible”.
He urged the community to make arrangements with the CPF, the police and neighbours if you are going away over the coming festive season.
He said the lack of police vehicles has a very negative effect on the SAPS response time, but that Delta 1, the service room, have a direct line to the Lephalale SAPS. He encouraged community members to make use of the Delta 1 system that is working very well. “We will help and try to make a difference” he said.
