D’Nyala to be refurbished

LEPHALALE — Lephalale Municipality hosted the department of environmental affairs at D’Nyala on 19 May 2016. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the consultants who will be responsible for the refurbishment of the D’Nyala game reserve just outside Lephalale and to brief the local work force.
The refurbishment is part of the department’s people and parks project whereby several nature reserves and parks will be upgraded. Around R29 million was allocated for the refurbishment of D’Nyala and the project will create 209 jobs for 18 months. 90% of the workforce will be local and 55% will comprise women and 60% youth.
The mayor welcomed the progressive initiative which he said would be a great boost to the economy of Lephalale. He called for the empowerment of local SMME’s through this project and said that the Municipality appreciates the initiative as D’Nyala is a historic facility and part of their heritage.
