LEPHALALE — Drugs are a huge problem in town. Drug dealing and usage are getting out of hand and the community are going to take law in their own hands if the authorities don’t take drastic steps to get it under control.
This issue was discussed at the meeting of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) last Thursday.
The fact that the drug issue was discussed on a Lephalale social media page where the cars involved, together with their registration numbers, as well as the streets names where possible drug dealing was taking place, were mentioned, is alarming said members of the CPF.
Lofty Fourie, acting CPF chairperson, said the police will have to convene a special meeting to discuss possible solutions for this problem and steps will have to be taken to eradicate this root of evil that is escalating every week.
According to W.O. Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, people with any information regarding drugs, that can assist the police, should report it to the police immediately instead of discussing it on social media. “Please come forward and talk to us, we will pass it on to Crime Intelligence” he said.
W.O. Mokoena also assured the public that no-one’s identity will be revealed.
Contact W.O. Mokoena on 073 429 8959 if you can assist in the battle against drugs.
