LEPHALALE — The Department of Education held a language enrichment competition in the form of a Spelling Bee during the past two months. As part of the National Strategy for Learner attainment (NSLA), Grade 4-6 learners must be involved in activities that enrich language proficiency.
The competition started at school level to circuit level, moved to cluster and then district levels. Learners from five districts competed in the Provincial Round of the Spelling Bee.
Emille Gouws from Laerskool Ellisras was the last one from Waterberg district standing in the competition. He ended fourth in the Province and first in the Waterberg District.
The school is very proud of this grade 4 learner as there are 1 385 primary schools in the province and he also competed against Grade 5 and 6 learners.
