LEPHALALE — Ephy Mathebula (33) was born in Lephalale, and she matriculated at Phegelelo Secondary School in Marapong. After school she studied Internal Auditing at the Vaal University of Technology and is employed as the Internal Audit Manager at Lephalale Local Municipality (she is currently acting in the position of Financial Manager).
Ephy is also one of the top 100 semifinalists for the Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa and she is determined to go through to the finals – finalists will be announced in April 2016.
This talented woman is also a mother for Palesa (13), Nkateko (6) and Ntsako (3) and a wife for Rhulani Mathebula, Matimba Power Station Manager.
Her motivation for entering the Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs SA was the encouragement of her friend Kgomotso Phelane. “As a young girl I always had interest in beauty pageants, but I never had the confidence to participate, but now as I was introduced to Mrs SA, I saw an opportunity to pursue my childhood dream” she says.
Her other motivation was the involvement of Mrs SA with CANSA, because she wants to be someone who makes a difference regarding cancer awareness.
Her biggest role model is Batsetsana Khumalo, former Miss SA. “I admired her courage during her journey as Miss SA. Her achievements as a woman entrepreneur also encourages me to strive for more and better things in life” says Ephy.
One of her passions is her love for people – helping people in need and motivating young girls to better themselves.
Ephy sees herself as a successful woman entrepreneur over the last ten years. She also wants to establish a non profit organization aiming to reach out to girls in SA and to empower them in all areas of their lives.
Ephy believes that, given her background, many girls and women will draw courage and be motivated to achieve greater things in life. She will use the opportunity, as potentially being crowned as Mrs SA, to reach out to many girls and women in SA and to address issues relating to drug and alcohol abuse and other social issues including teenage pregnancy and unsafe sexual activities.
