LEPHALALE — Four suspects escaped out of the holding cells at Lephalale Police at around 05:30 on Monday 28 August.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale SAPS, the four escapees cut through the inside burglar door of the holding cell, escaped through it and ran away.
They are Collin Muleya (40), Oscar Kapandula (32), Oupa Sithole (22) and John Mlambo (35). All four of them were awaiting court appearances on cases of house robbery, house breaking and theft.
Kapandula also uses the name Oscar Efford Jaya to identify himself. He has been arrested for numerous house breakings.
John Mlambo and Collin Muleya were arrested for a farm attack and theft on Leadwood Nature Reserve in the Tambotie/Overyssel area in July this year.
On Monday afternoon, members of the CPF managed to get a location for the suspects through a cell phone. The area was immediately closed off and members of security companies, Lephalale Police, the CPF and members of the Lephalale Cluster Trio Task Team patrolled the area for almost the entire day but to no avail.
At the time of going to print on Wednesday 30 August, the suspects were still at large and police investigations continue.
