Exxaro on job scams

Exxaro is aware of a scam taking place across the country where criminally-minded individuals are advertising non-existent Exxaro jobs on various websites and on social media. These adverts require that unsuspecting job seekers pay over money in order to secure the jobs. On arrival at the Exxaro site, the job-seeker then learns that he/she has been duped by the scamster and the money paid is not able to be recovered.
Community members are urged not to react to these scam adverts.
Disciplinary action which may lead to dismissals and criminal charges will be instituted against any employee found to be involved in such scam. Criminal charges will be brought against any other person involved in the scam.
Our recruitment procedures which include advertising, screening, interviewing, assessing and selecting are applied openly, fairly, and professionally. No jobs are ‘sold’ or ‘offered’ to candidates without going through our recruitment process.
Exxaro gives preference to applications which refer to a specific advertised vacancy and which meet the minimum inherent job requirements.
Where applicable, we encourage all applicants to submit their applications via the Company’s website. Unsolicited applications or CV’s which are submitted and do not relate to any specific position advertised by the Company at the time are placed in a database for further consideration in accordance with the Company’s job requirements.
Current employees are given the opportunity to apply for vacant positions before external applicants are considered. Contractors or contract employees are regarded as external applicants. External applicants who submit their applications or CVs are regarded as potential employees and are treated with the same respect and consideration as internal applicants.
