LEPHALALE — Residents of Onverwacht in the area of Bloukweek Street were terrified when the news broke on Tuesday 9 October that the owner of a guesthouse in Bloukweek Street received a bomb scare around 11:30. According to the owner, the male suspect phoned from a private number after which all the workers on the premises were removed.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS Cluster Spokesperson, the area was cordoned off and residents did not have access to the residential area.
Constable Covette Kühn from the Lephalale SAPS Bomb Disposal Unit as well as Modimolle K9 Unit and Explosives Detective Dogs searched the area, but according to WO Mokoena, no signs of any explosives could be found.
WO Mokoena said the suspect is known to the complainant and a case was opened for a false bomb threat.
