Fatality at Medupi

LEPHALALE — In a statement released on Tuesday 6 July Eskom announced a fatality incident that took place on Tuesday, 05 July 2016 at Eskom’s Medupi Power Station Project.
The incident happened at approximately 09:00 when Mr. Adam Grgic, a Croatian national, who was working on Unit 3 Boiler fell from the 63 metre level to zero metre level.
At the time of the incident, Mr. Grgic was employed as a pipefitter by IDS Industry Service and Plant Construction South Africa, a sub-contractor of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Africa.
A full investigation into the incident, in conjunction with the relevant authorities, is currently underway.
Eskom in conjunction with its Project Contractors has called for Safety Stand Downs and will implement a Programme of re-Inductions and safety training before getting the construction employees back to work.
