Four in for fraud

LEPHALALE — Four suspects were arrested by Lephalale SAPS on Friday 4 August after they received a complaint from someone that these four men took his bank card from him while he was trying to withdraw money from an ATM on Friday 28 July. They were driving a KIA sedan with registration number FB 72 XL GP. Since then he says money was frequently drawn from his bank account.
The complainant spotted the suspects on Friday 4 August and he contacted the police. They were driving a Hyundai Accent with registration number FL 43 WY GP.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, the police acted swiftly and the four suspects were arrested. Mokoena says it came under the attention of the police that criminals hire vehicles and use them to commit crimes making it difficult to spot them. The four suspects were also found in possession of a lot of car keys.
The suspects, Mpho Mashinini (31), David Sibiya (50), Kagiso Maake (26) and Patrick Maesela (34) appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud. At the time of going to print, the outcome of the court hearing was not yet known.
