LEPHALALE — Lephalale Cluster, under leadership of Brig John Masia, said goodbye to Lieutenant Colonel Tjale Petrus Mathe and Warrant Officer Mbolayeni Solomon Mashila during a farewell function held on Friday 23 March at a lodge outside Lephalale.
Lt Col Mathe joined the SAPS on 23 October 1984 and he served as overall head of the Lephalale Public Order Policing (POPS) Unit over the last few years. He was part of the POPS since his appointment 34 years ago.
Warrant Officer Mashila worked as Section Commander in POPS and he served 33 years as member of the SAPS.
POPS members from Polokwane, Modimolle, Lephalale as well as Lephalale Cluster Station Commanders and Unit Commanders attended the farewell function.
Brig Masia said Lt Col Mathe will be remembered for being involved in the policing of many strikes around Lephalale and some of the clusters across the Province. He also said that Lt Col Mathe was very dedicated in his job, a hard worker and excellent in management.
Brig Masia advised the two members to live a healthy lifestyle and to exercise regularly now that they are retired.
Brig Masia recalled all the good times as well as the difficulties they experienced and he said it was a privilege to work with them. He also thanked their spouses for all the support they received from them.
