LEPHALALE — In today’s World green is a buzzword that everyone should take notice of. Toyota SA expect their dealerships to each do something constructive to make the environment eco-friendlier with their Eco3-programme.
Andre Lotter who heads up the dealership of Tamboti Toyota put heads together with his workshop team and came up with the brilliant idea of recycling used air filters which are 100% biodegradable into a greener as green project. They are doing this together with environmental activist Kobus Roux who plants ponytail palms in the used air filters. The planted air filter is then placed in a filter box and returned to Tamboti Toyota where workshop personnel then hand them out to owners of vehicles which they have serviced. The ponytail can then be placed as it is into the ground to grow. Pony tails are an indigenous and hardy plant that need little water. And so a product which would just have been thrown away is now used to make a sizeable contribution towards an eco-friendly environment. Suddenly something with no use other than to be discarded has been turned into a great project with a little initiative from Tamboti Toyota.
