MARAPONG — The previous Mediclinic in Marapong will serve as a fully equipped Marapong Health Centre – fulfilling a long overdue need.
With the move of Mediclinic to Onverwacht, new equipment was purchased – leaving all the old equipment at the disposal of the Marapong Health Centre.
According to Jacques Snyman from the Lephalale Development Forum (LDF), the Memo of Understanding (MoU) was facilitated, accepted and signed by all four parties involved, namely the Department of Health, Eskom, Exxaro and Lephalale Local Municipality. Final scope of works and alterations were confirmed with the Department of Health and the Department of Public Works in January 2016.
Snyman says this long awaited for project is finally accepted and signed off. Eskom is responsible for the facilitation of procurement and construction is planned to start in March 2016.
Snyman also confirmed that the Victim Support Services project is included in the new Marapong Health Care Centre. It was also confirmed that the services of the paediatric bus is to be expanded to include the communities.
The LDF also facilitated a project to get support for a new home for Childline in Marapong. The Exxaro site, where they are currently being housed, is only a temporary solution.
