LEPHALALE — A car hijacking case was opened at Lephalale SAPS after a Pakistani citizen’s rented Kia mini truck was hijacked next to the Tambotie River bridge on the R510 (Marken Road) on Thursday 4 April around 17:00.
According to Colonel Daniel Ramakgoakgoa, Lephalale SAPS Station Commander, Johanazaila Syd, the complainant, said he was stopped by the drivers of both a white and a red BMW while driving the mini truck. There were three occupants in each BMW who jumped out and robbed Syd of the Kia mini truck and he was forced into one of the BMW’s. He couldn’t see where they were going because his head was covered. He was dropped somewhere outside Lephalale and he walked to town. His cell phone and a cash amount of about R40 000 was stolen from him.
According to Col Ramakgoakgoa, the truck was later recovered about 5 km from town on the R33 (new Vaalwater Road) however the keys of the mini truck were missing.
At the time of going to print, no arrests were made yet and the investigation continues.
