MARAPONG — The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers and other senior officers from the Provincial Management gathered at the Marapong Sports Stadium on Friday 9 November for a crime prevention Imbizo that was preceded by a #SafetyFriday operation and the opening of the Satellite Police Station in Marapong.
Attendees included the Acting Mayor of Lephalale Local Municipality (LLM), representatives of the LLM, Cluster Commanders, Provincial Heads, SAPS Units and Station Commanders, CPF members, business and farming community members as well as community members of Marapong and surrounding areas.
The briefing session was opened with a prayer by Chaplain Rampou and all the attendees were welcomed to the area by the Acting Mayor of LLM, Mr Motlokoa.
During the briefing session, Major Genl Scheepers outlined that the Satellite Station will operate 24 hours a day and the community members must strengthen their partnership with the police because crime needs to be faced with teamwork in the Province.
The purpose of the Satellite Station is to ensure that the police continue to combat and prevent all the crime categories particularly, the TRIO crimes and the domestic related violence in the area.
The Satellite Police Station will serve Marapong and the four surrounding extensions within the area. (See article on page 7.)
