Intellectual Quiz

LEPHALALE — On Saturday 29 August the Catchvibe Initiative held the final of the Intellectual Quiz Competition at Mogol Club.
Initially 10 schools in Palala Circuit were visited and after an elimination process, the top three learners per school were chosen to represent their schools.
The event organiser, Thabo Catchvibe Moatshe, told Mogol Post he was very happy with the inauguration of this Quiz, which will continue in 2018.
“We plan to have a bigger competition next year. The competition was only local this year because we first wanted to see how it goes. We want to expand it to the Waterberg District or Provincial level next year. We still have to plan the selection of schools and other logistics,” he said.
Moatshe says he was very excited, but at the same time nervous because he did not know the questions that would be asked to finalists. They were drafted by Godfrey Mulelu.
He was impressed by the participation of the students who were accompanied by their teachers.
“I think schools that did not make it this year now have an idea of what the competition is about and will participate next year. Those that did not make it to the finals I believe have acquired some knowledge that will help them in 2018,” Moatshe explained.
He says as they are planning for a bigger event next year they will need more sponsors. Schools that made it to the top three are Morakolo, Phegelelo and Tielelo Secondary School. The prizes were computers, first aid courses, routers, data and trophies, depending on the school’s achievement.
The top three schools received a
R6 000 cash prize, amongst other gifts and the top three students each received a tablet.
Moatshe said he was grateful for all the sponsors who ensured there was transportation for students to and from schools as well as taking care of other logistics.
