Lawrence’s tragic death

LEPHALALE — On Thursday night 7 September, around 21:00, Lawrence Shumba (42) was travelling on the R510 from Lephalale to his work place at Voëlparadys outside Lephalale when he allegedly lost control over his Mercedes Benz 280 SE and hit a tree.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena from Lephalale SAPS, he was thrown out of the vehicle during the accident.
The Benz broke into two parts, most likely due to the impact. The engine laid aside while the majority of the vehicle was literally folded around a marula tree.
According to Leme Fourie, his employer, he went to Lephalale to transfer money to his family who live elsewhere. “He paid his last instalment on his car about two months ago. Now there is nothing left” Leme said.
On their Facebook page, his colleagues at Voëlparadys Guesthouse said: “goodbye to our beloved co-worker and friend, Lawrence Shumba. We will always remember your kind nature, humbleness and friendly manner. May your soul rest in peace dear friend”.
Lawrence started working at Chobe in 2011. He was an employee at Voëlparadys since 2014.
He left his wife, four children and both his parents behind.
