Lion killers caught

During a joint operation by members of the provincial Stock Theft Unit attached to the Rhino Task Team and members of Sanparks, three suspects were arrested in Giyani on Monday afternoon (30 May 2016) after information was received about suspects attempting to sell lion heads and paws.
Three suspects were arrested and the heads of two lions as well as eight paws were recovered.
According to Col. Ronel Otto, Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, investigations to link this arrests and discovery to the incident where two white lions were poisoned at Stockpoort are ongoing.
The suspects, all from Mozambique, will appear in the Giyani Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 June 2016.
