SHONGOANE — On Friday 25 May Lephalale Sustainers Activa8as (LSA) donated sanitary towels to learners of Matshwara Secondary School at Shongoane 1.
This was part of LSAs programme that aims to assist learners from disadvantaged families and to ensure they continue with their schooling even when it’s their time of the month.
LSA Chairperson Lesego Magoai told Mogol Post that they are doing everything they can to have a better society that is able to learn without any interference. He says they were overwhelmed by the number of needy students at the school and they will dedicate much of their focus to them.
School management team member Mosima Nyama said they were very excited to have organisations like LSA pay them a visit to have their female students receive sanitary towels.
“A lot of our students struggle a lot. We have approximately 460 students in the senior grades who will sometimes miss classes due to nature’s call, as this interferes with their learning”; she said.
In this struggle, SMT realised that some still find it hard to talk about their challenges.
Nyama says they have strict rules against absenteeism.
In addition she said Matshwara Secondary School struggles with many things including career guidance, especially to students from Grade 10-12 who do not know what to study or do after matric.
