LEPHALALE — The Lephalale Going Green (LGG) initiative delivers good results with the help of the members, the municipality as well as helpful residents.
Russel Sadler, the owner of Ellisras Scrap Removers, made his machinery and trucks available to remove piles of rubbish from Mahlakung informal settlement next to the Ellisras District Hospital.
Residents have been selected to recycle and collect garbage that was sorted in blue and orange bags.
The orange bags were taken away with tipper trucks to the landfill and sorters could sell their recyclables for a profit in the nearby light industrial area. A road has been made to facilitate future clean-up operations.
LGG thanked everyone who contributed to Saturday’s great initiative.
The residents of informal settlements are called upon to stop littering and to start recycling.
Improving your lifestyle begins with yourself.
