LEPHALALE — Margy Pretorius, originally from Vaalwater and Ephy Mathebula, acting Financial Manager at Lephalale Municipality, became part of the top 25 finalists in the Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs. SA competition on Friday night 30 April.
The semi finalists gathered at Emperors Palace for the judging.Twenty percent of the points came from the swimsuit category while eighty percent came from the result of a five minute interview with the judges. The judges were Cindy Nel Roberts (main judge), Vusi Zwane (from the Peermont Group who own Emperors Palace) Zuraida Jardin, Joan Ramagosi (previous Miss SA and business woman) and Dr. Alex Smile (cosmetic dentist from Thinc Clinic).
According to Margy they each had to set a table for the big occassion held at Centre Court Emperors Palace with the peacock as the theme. The occassion was held on behalf of CANSA and was attended by about 1 300 guests.
Bonang Matheba of Top Billing fame, business woman in her own right and a well known radio and TV personality was the master of ceremony for the evening.
“We had a photograph session with Brendan Croft for Joseph Ribkoff (clothes designer) and Nine West.
Both of these designers were of the main sponsors of the competition. Our hair was sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional and make up by Sormé Cosmetic Make up – with the styling done by Anja Cruze Bothma,” the two excited finalists from Limpopo said.
“In addition to this we attended workshops in preparation for the Mrs. South Africa journey. We were adressed by both our sponsors and Cansa. Our next step is to organise a Cuppa for Cansa – each finalist must tap into their own creativity.”
“Ephy and I are very proud of each other and support each other” says Margy. “We build each other as the motto of Mrs SA is that girls compete but woman empower”, she said.
Ephy said to Mogol Post: “as we were called to back stage as semi finalists, I started shaking a bit but I kept on hoping and believing that my name will be mentioned as one of the finalists. As we were still waiting back stage I heard Mr. Vusi Zwane calling my name as the first one on the Top 25. I jumped up and began thanking God and worshipping Him silently. It was such a breathtaking moment for me and I knew there and then that it is by God’s grace that I made it thus far. I couldn’t have made it without Him. I want to thank Lephalale community for all the love and support. We are bringing the crown to Lephalale”.
The crowning of Mrs. SA will take place on Friday night 21 October. Tickets for the occassion will be available through Computicket shortly.
