MARAPONG — Mamelodi Sundowns Moswenko Lephalale Branch and Sabatho Media came to the rescue of the Matlou family in Marapong X4 on Sunday 5 August after help was requested on social media.
The family’s dire situation was brought to Mogol Post’s attention on Mandela Day this year.
A wheelchair bound mother of three, Anna Matlou, stays in the house with five other family members, including two grandchildren.
Moswenko Branch started by removing dirty clothes from the house after which they cleaned it thoroughly.
In the meantime, Sabatho Media were installing electrical wires, new globes and lights, fixing the toilet, replacing windows and adding new locks.
When all was done a new carpet was placed and paintings were painted on the inside walls.
The supporters of the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions brought food parcels and blankets for the elderly woman.
For Anna, this was a generous gesture. By Sunday evening she could not hide her appreciation for the noble acts done for her family and she wished the donors only the best in their lives.
The Matlou family faces many challenges. They sometimes have no choice but to leave their mother’s SASSA card at a nearby shop as insurance so that they can buy food on credit.
They also lack proper beds and other household furniture.
