LEPHALALE — A most wanted suspect was arrested by Constable Mokwele of the Lephalale SAPS task team, together with the assistance of members of the Lephalale Crime Investigation Service (CIS).
The police were looking for the suspect, Basimana Sasa, as he was terrorising residents in Onverwacht and surroundings. He was arrested for housebreaking, rape and business robbery. (Mogol Post last week wrote in an article “Door to door, suspect wanted” about a man who uses a fake name “Sassa Snonori” on Facebook who is wanted by the police).
The suspect was arrested at Matlametlong Village outside Northam around 07:00 on Monday morning 26 November. He was found in possession of cell phones, watches, a laptop etc. that he sold to his friends. He also marked the house where he was hiding with the name “Silas” in an effort to deceive the police.
Lephalale Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Masia thanks the community who assisted the police with information which led to the arrest of Sasa.
Sasa appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 28 November and at the time of print the outcome could not be confirmed.
The investigation continues.
(Unfortunately, a picture of him could not be published at the time of going to print because an identification parade was still to be held — Editor)
