LEPHALALE — Lephalale Municipality is pleased to announce two permanent appointments. Maria Cocquyt has been appointed as Municipal Manager as from 1 July 2020 and Lesego Matlwas as Chief Financial Officer as from 1 June 2020.
Ms Cocquyt joined the Municipality as Executive Manager: Community Services on 1 November 2018. She has over ten years of experience in local government dealing with administration and day to day tasks that maintain municipal operations. She is a familiar face in the corridors of the local Municipality having served the institution for ten years as Executive Manager Social Services.
In her acceptance, she said she has the utmost respect for the position of Municipal Manager and is committed to ensuring good governance and addressing the needs and concerns of stakeholders.
Ms Lesego Matlwa joins the municipality as Chief Financial Officer and has been with Eskom where she served as a Financial Manager. She brings with her a wealth of experience from private and public sector, most notably her senior positions at Eskom. Lesego started her career with SARS as Customs and Excise Officer in 2001.
In 2004, she joined Eskom as Management Accountant, and in April 2008 she was appointed Senior Finance Manager of Eskom Medupi Power Station Project.
Her extensive financial experience, strong leadership and commitment to ethical standards make her the ideal choice to implement the municipality’s financial strategy.
Lesego holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCom) from the University of Venda and a Master of Business Leadership degree (MBL) from UNISA.
Her motto in life is: “Vision without action is a daydream; action without vision is a nightmare”.
Lesego says she is excited to be part of the Lephalale Municipality team.
