VILLA NORA — A 28 year old man was allegedly murdered by family members early on Sunday morning 12 February.
According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale SAPS spokesperson, it is alleged that a mother (49) and her two younger sons (aged 15 and 16) were in the house when the deceased (their eldest brother) came home from a nearby tavern around 03:00 on Sunday morning.
Mokoena says upon arrival he asked for food and complained because according to him, she took too long to prepare the food.
He then insulted his mother and the two brothers where after the three of them ran into the house and locked themselves inside. Mokoena says he kept throwing stones at the house and broke some windows.
The 16 year old boy inside the house then boiled some water, opened the door slightly and when the deceased moved closer he poured the boiling water on his chest. He ran away screaming and shouting, but the boys and their mother ran after him and assaulted him on his head and body with a panga and knobkierie. Mokoena says members of Villa Nora Police went out to the scene and he was declared dead.
The three were arrested and the mother was taken to Villa Nora SAPS holding cells.
The two brothers are under age and were released and according to Mokoena they will be taken to the SAPS Provincial Officer for assessment.
A murder case was opened.
