LEPHALALE – Residents in Onverwacht, especially those in Tsessebe Street, have been without a Telkom network or internet since Friday 26 August. Apparently the residents tried to talk to the contractors who didn’t want to say anything and just kept filling the trenches with sand – the severed cables clearly visible above the ground. The contractor who was hired by the Municipality to replace the old asbestos pipes, simply cut the cables.
Mogol Post asked the Municipality about this situation and according to a representative of the Department of Water and Sanitation, an email was sent to the consultants who did the work. They have been asked to indicate what their plan of action is and what they are going to do in light of all the complaints and enquiries.
After giving the municipality more than two weeks to comment on what their plan of action is, they still couldn’t manage to give feedback at the time of going to press.
On Wednesday morning the residents were still without cables and thus no Telkom connection.
