WITPOORT — Operation Basedi was held in the Witpoort policing area during the week of 23-27 Julie. The purpose of this operation was to assist Witpoort SAPS to decrease crime in their area. The operation also focussed on wanted suspects.
The following successful arrests were made:
Five people were arrested for drinking in public, one for selling liquor without a license, three for possession of dagga and one wanted suspect was arrested.
During a roadblock, six people were arrested for violating the road traffic act, 101 motor vehicles and 200 luggage bags were searched, 46 passports were checked and 36 vehicles were tested.
Awareness campaigns were held at two schools in Ga-Seleka Village, namely Mazwe High School and Tshireletso High School.
550 leaners were reached and assisted on real life issues such as bullying, human trafficking, substance abuse, sexual offences and dangerous weapons
