Operations impact on crime

The SAPS joint Intelligence led operations, focussing on crime infested areas, still have an impact in dealing with crime throughout Limpopo says Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, SAPS provincial spokesperson.
In the Burgersfort Cluster, the K9 Unit, together with the Provincial Drugs Task Team have arrested five suspects aged between 20 and 36 years for possession of drugs and the possession of a firearm and ammunition without license. The following were recovered: Two sachets of the drug Rock valued at R300, 5 gram of Nyaope powder valued at R700, 17 sachets of Nyaope valued at R1 500, 0.95 g dagga valued R350, a Mazda 626, a Toyota Corolla, a 9 mm Norinco firearm, 9 x 9 mm ammunition, an empty magazine and three R5 rifle ammunition.
In the Bela-Bela Cluster, eight suspects, aged between 28 and 41 years, were arrested for possession of drugs and housebreaking and theft. The following were recovered: 1 017 Ecstasy tablets to the estimated value of R152 550, a VW Golf, a laptop and two containers full of stolen petrol.
In Jane Furse, a 24 year old man was arrested for possession of 4 810 kg dagga with the estimated value of R8 000. The dagga was recovered.
In Westernburg, a 31 year old man was arrested for possession of dagga. 20 kg dagga to the value of R70 000 was recovered.
In Lephalale, four suspects aged between 25 and 31 year old were arrested for possession of drugs and housebreaking and theft and two cell phones and drugs were recovered.
In Groblersdal, Seshego, Northam, Makhado and Giyani Policing areas, nine suspects aged between 19 and 44 years were arrested for possession of drugs, theft, housebreaking and theft and house robberies. The following were recovered: a truck, 283 g dagga, R6 170 cash, four electric sports lights, one briefcase full of stolen clothes, one firearm and 22 sachets of dagga.
The arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrate Courts soon.
Police investigations are continuing.
