
TOM BURKE — The 35-year-old Knowledge Dube appeared in Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Monday 15 June, facing a charge of possession of endangered species.
He was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 23 June 2020 for a formal bail application and further Police investigation.
Police in Tom Burke arrested Dube on Friday 12 June after he was allegedly found in possession of a pangolin, which is an endangered species.
The arrest took place after Police received information about someone selling a live pangolin in the Swartwater area.
Members of the Endangered Species Unit of the SAPS were informed, and they apprehended the suspect and confiscated the pangolin.
The investigation continues.
