Priest allegedly murdered

MARAPONG — A murder case was opened against Simon Mokgadi Kobo (53) after he allegedly killed Johannes Monene (28).

According to Warrant Officer Frans Mokoena, Lephalale Cluster spokesperson, Monene was a priest at the ZCC St Engenas Church in Marapong.

WO Mokoena said Kobo allegedly killed Monene by crushing his head with a stone and by stabbing him with a sharp object in his legs and arms on Monday 11 February around 03:00 at Baprika informal settlement in Marapong.

Kobo appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 12 February and the case was postponed to Tuesday 19 February for a formal bail application and was again postponed to 21 February. He remains in custody.
