WITPOORT — The 26-year-old William Madumetsa Machaba, a prisoner who was awaiting trial at Witpoort SAPS, died in Witpoort Hospital on Sunday 7 April around 13:00.
According to Police, it is alleged that a Captain was doing his rounds at the Witpoort SAPS holding cells on Friday 5 April around 17:15 when he found the deceased bleeding in the cell.
He was removed from the cell and put in the waiting cell to be treated by emergency services.
He was then taken to Witpoort Hospital where he was admitted for treatment. He was placed on guard until a constable who was guarding him reported that he passed away.
Machaba was arrested for three counts of business burglaries.
At the time of going to print, Colonel Daniel Ramakgoakgoa, Lephalale SAPS station commander, could not provide details on the above incident.
